Segment LCD programming skills
First, the basic parameters of segmented liquid crystal
1.Duty: duty cycle
This parameter is also generally called the number of Duty or the number of com, and the segment liquid crystal generally adopts the driving mode of time-division dynamic scanning, in this mode, the ratio of the effective gating time of each com to the entire scanning cycle, that is, the duty cycle, is fixed, equal to the number of 1/com.
2.Bias: Bias
The driving waveform of the LCD'S SEG/COM is an analog signal, and the ratio of the analog voltage of each level to the highest output voltage of the LCD is called bias, and generally speaking, Bias is expressed as the ratio of the lowest voltage to the highest output voltage. Generally speaking, there is a certain relationship between bias and duty, the more the number of duties, the shorter the scanning time corresponding to each com, and to achieve the same display brightness and display contrast, the voltage of von should be increased, and the difference between the selective level and the non-selective level needs to be increased, that is, Bias needs to be increased, and there is an empirical formula between Duty and Bias, namely:
Bias = 1/(√Duty + 1)
3. VDD: working voltage
Liquid crystal molecules need AC signals to drive, and long-term DC voltage added to both ends of liquid crystal molecules will affect the electrochemical characteristics of liquid crystal molecules, causing blurred display, reduced lifespan, and irreversible destructiveness.
4.Frame: Scan frame rate
Scanning frequency, the frequency of the AC voltage that directly drives the liquid crystal molecule is generally between 60~100Hz, which is determined according to the area and design of the LCDPanel, the frequency is too high, which will lead to the increase of driving power consumption, and the frequency is too low, which will cause the display to flicker, and if there is an integer multiple relationship between the scanning frequency and the frequency of the light source, the display will also have flickering.
Other things such as viewing angle, connection method, operating temperature range, etc., then let the supplier do it according to the specific needs;
As for how to control the segment code screen display, some MCUs such as MSP4304152 support segment code driver, if not, you can use a special driver IC such as HT1621B/HT1622, etc., after the driver is done, it is nothing more than writing data, and each data bit controls the corresponding segment code display or not;
The principle is the same, but using some C language skills will make the program more concise and efficient;
